LaserMax Introduces New Laser Sight For Revolvers

August 23, 2006

by Celia Crane

New LaserMax Side-Mount Laser Sight for Smith & Wesson J-Frame Revolvers
Rochester, NY (August 23, 2006)? LaserMax, Inc. is expanding their product offering to include a new line of laser systems specifically designed for revolvers. The first model offered will be the J-Max? for popular Smith & Wesson J-frame revolvers. Retailing at only $199.00, the new LaserMax sight will address the ever-present need for fast and accurate shot placement in low-light conditions, when seconds count.

User friendly and easy to install, the J-Max? is a smooth, side mounted laser system that places the laser module high on the frame and out of the way of the index finger, just above the cylinder. The J-Max? adds less than one ounce to the overall weight of the firearm and can be slipped into a pocket, holster or concealment garment without snagging or getting caught up.

During development, LaserMax compiled extensive customer data through surveys, interviews and focus groups to identify key design features customers want. The resulting product includes numerous innovative features such as an internal mode switch that allows the user to select between a pulsing or continuous wave (constant on) beam. The J-Max? features a unique activation system; the laser can be activated from either the right or left side by touch-activated buttons in the grips. This design is consistent with proper firearms safety training and gives the user control of when the laser is on or off. Storage for a spare set of batteries and the alignment tool are conveniently built into the inside of the left grip panel.

In addition to dramatically increasing accuracy and speed of target acquisition, the
J-Max? system serves as a beneficial training aid, enabling the shooter to diagnose poor shooting habits even through dry fire.

The J-Max? system comes complete with the side mounted laser system, replacement grips, batteries, and all tools necessary for installation. Installation is as simple as removing the factory grips and replacing them with LaserMax?s laser module and supplied grips. No gunsmithing or permanent modifications to the firearm are necessary.

The J-Max? system was designed specifically for Smith & Wesson revolvers and will integrate flawlessly on most round-butt J-frame models such as the popular Airlite? and Airweight® models. Two distinct versions will be available to accommodate the varied frame and hammer styles; the LMS-JMX-H will be compatible with the traditional (exposed hammer) style revolvers as well as the Bodyguard® (shrouded hammer) models. The LMS-JMX-NH will be compatible with the ?Centennial? style (enclosed hammer) models. First units of both J-Max? versions are scheduled for release in the fall of 2006 for the low retail price of $199.00.
